8153 | ![]() | Kornegay-Cozort Couple Plans November Wedding Kornegay - Cozort Couple Plans November Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Horace Robinson Kornegay of Bethesda, Md., formerly of Greensboro, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Elder of Raleigh, to Jack Lowell Cozort of Raleigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Lee Cozort of Morganton. Miss Kornegay is a 1976 graduate of Wake Forest University with a major in sociology. She was a member of S.O.P.H. Society and studied in Italy her junior year. She represented North Carolina as the Cherry Blossom Princess in the 1974 National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., and she is currently on the staff of Governor James B. Hunt Jr. Mr. Cozort was graduated with honors from North Carolina State University in 1972 with a B.A. in political science. He was editor of the student newspaper, "The Technician," and was a North Carolina Fellow. In 1972 he was selected the Most Outstanding Senior in Liberal Arts. In 1975 he was graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law and is now legal counsel to Governor James B. Hunt Jr. He was formerly an associate attorney general in the N.C. Department of Justice. The couple will be married on November 12 at West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Mentzer, Jean Mentzer, Dorothy Freeh, .Arlene Weave, Lorraine Jones and Francis Biehl. Girls who were on vacation when the tests were taken, have two hours to make up. Nelson & Sons Memorial Chapel Wednesday, April 24, 2013 Family Visitation: 11:00 A.M. 12:00 Noon Funeral Service: 12:00 Noon Nelson & Sons Memorial Chapel 824 Lipscomb Street Shelbyville, Tennessee Eulogist, Pastor Sandra Avent Interment Willow Mount Cemetery Shelbyville, Tennessee Lillian Clara Rippy Trollinger McNairy was born on September 9, 1907, to the late Gilbert and Pearl Scott Rippy in Haley, Tennessee. She peacefully left this life on April 20, 2013 at Lynchburg Nursing Home in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Lillian attended school in Haley and joined Mt. Zion Haley Baptist Church in Normandy, Tennessee at an early age. She would later become the oldest living member. Lillian worked in private homes and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Lillian was married to the late Robert Clint Trollinger and to this union three children were born, two whom preceded her in death: Norman Trollinger and Pearlene Trollinger Durant. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Billy Norman Trollinger. She would later marry Raymond McNairy who also preceded her in death. Along with husbands and children, Lillian was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert and Harrison Rippy, and three sisters, Dorothy E. Rippy, Esther B. Rippy Baker, and Louise Rippy Trice. Lillian leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Clara Mai Hall, Lynchburg, TN; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Glen Trollinger, Shelbyville, TN; a step-daughter, Mai L. Lemons, Inglewood, California; a grandson, Robert Lewis Trollinger; seven granddaughters, Susie Stewart, Doris Waggoner, Karita (Ken) Bailey, Deborah Hall, Ida (John) Owens, Carolyn Wells, and Lisa (James) Carden; fifteen great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild; a sister-in-law, Laura Cortner, Shelbyville, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews. |

James Trollinger, aged twenty-one and Miss Addie Reed, aged eighteen, were waiting in the latter's house for the thunder storm to pass over when lightning struck the house and running down the chimney instantly instantly killed both of them, besides badly shocking others in the room. The shoes were torn entirely off Miss Reed's feet and her clothing was set on fire. Both Trollinger and Miss Reed were prominent and popular in social circles. |
