William Ray was born June 3, 1925, in Augusta, MO. His family shortly moved to Gasconade, MO, where he attended grade school. William attended Hermann High school where he loved to play basketball. He loved to coach and referee basketball. After high school he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and served our country during WWII. After service he returned home and married the love of his life, Laura Mae Boss of Morrison, MO. They were married on February 12, 1949, they had two children Bradley Wayne and Carla Rae and spent 69 years together. He continued to coach and referee basketball, he even refereed the Harlem Globetrotters. William worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 10 years. After working for the railroad, he went to work for T.O.X truck line and retired after 35 years. During this time, they had moved to the Wagon Wheel Mobile Trailer Park in Kansas City, where they established their home. He helped build the trailer park by hand, he did everything that it took to make this place into a home for 40 families. In 1988, they became the owners of Wagon Wheel Mobile Park.

William loved to go to the river and fish with his family and he loved to work. In retirement you would always find him riding his "John Deere" tractor, wearing his overalls and working. His reason for living was his family.

57648 William Sevier Trinkle, age 51, prominent businessman and public spirited citizen of this town, died this morning at 7 o'clock at his home on W. Main St. after an illness of more than two weeks. While his death is deplored by the entire County, yet it was no shock to the community. His health has been bad for the past year, and during the last illness, no hope for his recovery has been extended by the physicians in charge since last week.

He is survived by his widow and two children, and by two brothers, the Hon. E. Lee Trinkle, Governor of Virginia, and Clarence M. Trinkle, president of the Farmer's Bank of Southwest Virginia, all of whom were with him when he died.

The deceased was the son of the late Elbert Stephen Trinkle and Lettie M.S. Trinkle, of this place. He was born in Dublin, Pulaski County, Virginia, on July 31, 1871 but moved to the Wytheville with his parents in 1875, since when he has been a resident of Wytheville. He was the second of three sons. Clarence M Trinkle was the eldest and Gov. E. Lee Trinkle, the youngest.

He married Miss Ethel Knoerr, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, on August 26, 1904. Their two children are Norred Trinkle, who is a first year student of Hampden-Sidney College, and Miss Ethel Lee Trinkle, of Wytheville.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of his hometown, and belong to the numerous fraternal organizations. He was a member of the Wytheville Lodge of Masons; Knights of Templar, of Marion Virginia; B.P.O. Elks, of Pulaski Virginia; the Oaks and Virginia club of Wytheville, and several other organizations in the state. He was also a member of the Wytheville School Board for a number of years, and took great interest in his duties. He was an able an active member of the Democratic Party. He was in charge of the estate of Trinkle Brothers, looking after their extensive farming in the grazing interests and dealing in the export cattle. He was generally regarded as a very able businessman, and leaves an estate valued at or near $250,000.

The people of the community and the county have met for many years sought the counsel of the deceased in matters of business and investments and received his best advice free, with the result that he is regarded as one of the biggest hearted and kindest man the community has afforded. He has a great capacity for friendship, and though well-to-do financially himself, he has always been a friend to the poor.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. F. J. Brooke, Jr, from the Presbyterian Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, at which time the business houses of the town will close their doors. Internment will be in the East End Cemetery in the family square, with Masonic honors.
