Royal Edgar Sellers was born Osgood, Indiana, October 5, 1882. He married Mildred Baird and they had two children; Richard and Frances Haun. Roy managed the Farmers Elevator in Craig, was a member of the Old Craig baseball team, and one of the original members of the Craig Race Horse Assn. In 1926 he removed his family to Maryville and later was elected Sheriff of Nodaway County. He died February 2, 1951.
"Roy E. Sellers, Maryville, passed away in Maryville, Friday, following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted from Price's Funeral Home in Maryville, Monday afternoon, and interment was in New Liberty Cemetery.
Mr. Sellers, formerly of Craig, had lived in Maryville the past 23 years. He had a large acquaintance in Holt County and Maryville, having been associated with the public practically all of his life. He was the eldest son of Jacob Wesley and Lucinda Sellers and was born in Osgood, Ind., October 5, 1882. He came with his parents to Corning, where they lived for a while and then the family moved to the Anderson farm, later to become the Pebley farm near Craig, where he grew up and attended public school.
At an early age he became employed at the Farmers Mill and Elevator and later managed the elevator until it was destroyed by fire.
In 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Mildred Baird of Redding, Iowa.
About 23 years ago he moved with his family to Maryville. For a while he was on the Maryville police force and later served one term as sheriff of Nodaway County. He was associated with his son in the restaurant business until more recently when he retired because of ill health.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Richard of Maryville, a daughter, Mrs. Frances Hahn of Chowchilla, Calif., his aged mother, Mrs. Lucinda Sellers and a sister, Mrs. Tom Nauman, Craig, a brother, Otto Sellers, St. Joseph and five grandchildren."
