      SOUTH BEND - Peggy Jean Millbern, 86, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010, in her residence. Peggy was born October 31, 1923, in South Bend, to Fessler and Marie (VanArsdel) Millbern. She graduated from Riley High School and attended Indiana University in Bloomington. After graduation, she joined IBM at their South Bend office and was later transferred to the Manhattan, New York, office. After retiring, she returned to South Bend and lived with family. She was a die-hard Cubs fan and an avid Bridge player. She is survived by cousins, John M. Steffee of Glen Ellyn, IL, Caryle Merrill of Bozeman, MT, Jane Wilmoth of Chicago, IL, Lisa Baratta of North Aurora, IL, Michael Steffee of Angels Camp, CA, Kevin Steffee of Greenbrae, CA, Mary Funkhouser of Elkhart, IN, Charles Clemens of Carterville, IL, Matthew Funkhouser of Angola, IN, Nicholas Funkhouser of Kissimmee, FL, and Kimberly Clemens of Carterville, IL. She is also survived by her constant canine companion, "Maggie," and her longtime friends and care-givers, Linda Yared and Mary Bottum of South Bend, who want to give special thanks to the Memorial Home Care nurse and aides for their excellent care over the last few years. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 till 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, with time to be announced in Tuesday's newspaper. Entombment will follow funeral services at Highland Cemetery. In Peggy's memory, contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Pet Refuge, 2300 W. 6th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to the Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
