  The old schoolhouse in the background was constructed in 1869 to replace the original log school in which members of the Solomon and George Richardson families received their early education. The photo shows Mrs. Mary E. Colby, who was a pupil in both schools, Mrs. Edith Tomlinson, Arcata, Calif., and Frank Mitchell, Biggs, Calif.
