Funeral services for Aletha H. Secora of Gordon were held at the Cicmanec-Camberlain-Pier Chapel in Gordon August 22 with Reverend Jack Abbott officiating. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.
Mrs. Secora, 88, died August 16, 2005 at Gordon Countryside Care Nursing Home.
Aletha Secora was born May 6, 1917, in Norton, Kan., to Claude and Mattie (Durham) Drullinger.
She was the youngest of eight children and her family nicknamed her Toots. Aletha moved with her family to Nebraska when she was a young child.
On April 29, 1936 she was united in marriage with John Case. They had a daughter, Sharon and son Delbert.
Aletha married Frank Secora on May 26, 1957 and they had one son, Charles.
She had cooked for many years in restaurants in Chadron and she also managed the Chadron High School cafeteria. After moving to South Dakota, she cooked at Central School until she retired and moved to Gordon.
Among her many interests, Aletha loved gardening and being outside tending flowers and bird watching. She was an Elf for several years for Santa Delbert's Needy Tree.
She was a member of the Gordon American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by: her daughter Sharon and son-in-law Darius Maltbie of Gordon; son Dr. Charles Secora of Carlsbad, N.M.; grandchildren: Patty Fiebelkorn of Truman, Minn., Terry Weymouth of Lusk, Wyo., Janet (Charles) Stoops of Waverly, Ga., Dennis (Tami) Maltbie; Kristina Crespin and Shelly May, all of Pueblo, Colo., Petty Officer 3rd Class Allen Maltbie stationed in San Diego, Calif., and Danny Case of Chadron; and twelve great-grandchildren. There are many others, of all ages who affectionately called her Mom or Grandma.
Cicmanec-Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
