- Shirley was born in Portland Oregon to Clarence and Verness Harris on October 3, 1928. She passed away peacefully on June 2, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Shirley was a great granddaughter of Gabriel Trullinger who was an Oregon Pioneer and lived in Oregon prior to October 1872. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland and attended Vanport College (now Portland State University).
On August 19, 1951, Shirley married Franz E. Herrmann (an immigrant from Switzerland). They lived in California for seven years before returning to Oregon. He preceded her in death in 1996. She moved from Lincoln City to Salem Oregon in 1979 and worked at the State Capitol in the department of Oregon Legislative Information Systems for twelve years.
She retired in 1990 to pursue her passion of golf. She was a member of Salem Golf Club since 1988. Shirley enjoyed knitting, reading, playing bridge, and volunteering in her community. She will be remembered for her passion for life and be missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her three children; Franz I. (Bonnie), of Corvallis, Tim (Pamela) of Eugene and Marta Ferrando (Debbie Witsoe) of Vancouver, WA. 5 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and one on the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to The Walton House.
