- Michael Paul Druelinger, 12, of 90 North Gum Neck Road, Columbia, N.C., died Saturday, March 18, 2006. Michael was born Dec. 22, 1993, in Elizabeth City to Melissa Sue Cahoon and Leo Paul Druelinger IV, who survive. He was a sixth-grade student at Columbia Middle School, where he played the trumpet in the Sixth Grade Band, attended the Columbia Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed football. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, John Reid Druelinger of Elizabeth City; sister, Katie Mae Cahoon and stepfather, Charlie Thomas Cahoon, both of the home; paternal grandparents, Wiley Beales and Leo Paul Druelinger III of Elizabeth City; and maternal grandmother, Donna Shively of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Walter Lewis Shively. The family will receive friends today at Smith & Austin Walker Chapel in Columbia from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 24, at 11 a.m. at Columbia Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Crabtree officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Gum Neck. Smith & Austin Walker Chapel, Columbia, is serving the Cahoon family.
