I have Phila and Isaac Mccully on the 1850 Census. I also have a copy of Philathea Mccully's death certificate which indicates her parents as Gabriel and Lydia Fullender born about 1804 and died 1 May 1889. Isaac Mccully died 9 Feb 1869. They are buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Camden. First child, Lydia, looks like she was born about 1821. I don't know if Isaac Mccully was previously married but their children were Lydia, Esther Ann, Hiram, John, Isaac and Emily. I do not have a date for the marriage which isn't so unusual. Anything look familiar?

    • What is over looked here is Gabriel the immigrant had a son Named Gabriel born 1750. This Gabriel married a Philisare Reach in 1769 in Salem County NJ. No children are found from this marriage. Gabriel Jr. moved around quite a bit. He left tracks in Cumberland County PA before moving to Allegany County MD. The last know track he left was when he sold he land to his brother Jacob in 1808. After that he disappears. It is possible he married a Lydia and moved back to the NJ area and was the father of Philathea. The close resemblance between Philisare and Philathea could be because of the poor spelling of the time. If this is the case then she is not the daughter of Joseph and the other Lydia may be the daughter of Gabriel in addition. Added as a child of Gabriel based on this premise Gordon L Drollinger 27 April 2016

I did send for the death certificate from the Trenton Archive. There were no informants listed on the death certificate - only the Medical Doctor and the Undertaker. Philathea McCully was born in New Jersey about 1804 and her parents - Gabrie and Lydia Trullendar were listed as born in U.S.A.
With regard to my connection or rather my husband's connection, Isaac McCully, Philathea's husband, was the son of Bradshaw and Mary Stow McCully. My husband's connection is through the Stow family.

No unfortunately it was not a will. A David Bowen was the administrator and it mentioned Gabriel was a grocer. There was no land and the inventory list was of personal items chairs, crocks, etc. Rent was due so He didn't own a house. There was money due for a coffin for Mrs Trullender (first name omitted) and one for Gabriel.

No I can't connect her but I have hopes of if we can uncover a few more clues. The big one being the death certificate so far. Did you write and get it? If so there may be further data at that source. I think Frederick's son Gabriel can ruled out even tho he was born in 1780 as he had children starting in 1801 in Warren County Ohio. I believe Gabriel the OI can be ruled out as too old. Which leaves us with Gabriel the son. The only problem here is he was in Cumberland County PA in 1781. So it looks like there is either a new Gabriel in the mix or one of the known ones came back to NJ for a while.

Is there an informant listed on the death certificate? Where do you fit in the puzzle?

It was handwritten and the "r" could have been included. It was fancy writing and looking at it again it could well have been Trullender and I interpreted as Tullender. At first I thought it was Fullender. In addition the marriage between Phila and Isaac was listed as McCollough although it was McCully. Do you have their marriage date? Can you connect Phila with Gabriel the immigrant? Was Phila mentioned in the estate of Gabriel?

Interesting to say the least. is that the State Archives or? Is it written or typed with the R missing? Did you get that in hard copy?

On going back to my NJ binder I noted that it wasn't John Marshall she married. He was the one entry above her. She married Isaac McCollough. Now that I look at a map I see Camden is across the river from Philadelphia. It was in the Philadelphia court records I found the estate records of Gabriel the immigrant as Trullender. Why Phila when he lived and died in Salem County I have no idea.

I got the death certificate from the Trenton Archives. Philathea McCully, d. 1 May 1889, age 85 years; Widow; birthplace, NJ, last place of residence and place of death, 126 North 11th St, Camden; father, Gabriel Tullender, b. USA, mother Lydia Tullender; cause of death, General Prostration; Source 1887-88 Camden County Death Certificates.
It is possible that Philathea could have been married twice. I have never come across another Philathea. I do know that there were Tullenders in Camden City in 1880-1890 - John Tullender Jr. and his wife Hannah, and also a Sarah. John was a shoemaker.
