    • Marlys Kaye (Nelson) Lundeen, 77, of Minden died Monday, May 7, 2018, at Bethany Home in Minden.

Celebration of life services was held Thursday, May 10th at Minden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Blanchard officiating. Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.

Marlys was born on Sept. 9, 1940, at Minden Sealey Hospital to Paul A. and Ada (Cederburg) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church south of Axtell. Her mother died when Marlys was 4 years old. Marlys and her sisters were blessed by another mother when Paul later married Emma Christensen.
Marlys went to elementary through high school in Minden, graduating from MHS in 1958. Marlys met Gene Lundeen at the rollerskating rink in Minden. They were married on Aug. 5, 1961, at Bethany Lutheran Church of Axtell.
They joined the United Methodist Church of Minden and raised their three children, Brad, Jodi and Kristi, on the Lundeen family farm southwest of Minden. She taught them the value of caring first for your family.

Marlys was known for her cooking. The hired help always appreciated her meals around the kitchen table and those delivered to the fields at harvest.
Marlys also gave of herself to her community. She was involved in Chordettes, United Methodist Women (various offices), Chapter N P.E.O. (various offices), Double L Extension Club, Some-R-Set Club, square dance club (Pioneer Promenaders) and Class of '58 coffee group.

She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a 4-H leader for 10 years. Marlys was a very active and reliable member of her church where she taught Sunday school, harmonized in the church choir and bell choir, and answered the call wherever needed.

Marlys enjoyed traveling with her husband and traveling to her kids 'and grandkids' activities. Further, Marlys was much loved and will be deeply missed by her extended family. Her nieces and nephews remember how she helped to make the farm the best vacation place. She was so special to her sisters, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She is remembered for sharing her gift of potato salad, buttermilk brownies and sweet pickles, just to name a few.

Survivors include her husband, Gene of Minden; children, Brad Lundeen and wife Deb of Minden, Jodi Boudreau and husband Mike of Minden and Kristi Nelson and husband Tom of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Mark Lundeen and wife Bekah, Laura Oswald and husband Mitch, Nate Lundeen, Alaina Boudreau, Jenae Boudreau, Leah Boudreau, Jessie Nelson, Sam Nelson and Zach Nelson; one sister, Lavonne Grassmeyer (Darrell) of Columbus; and her beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; stepsisters, Marjorie (Christensen) Hartman and her husband, Vern, and Willa Reye (Christensen) Kokes and her husband, Bob; one sister, Lois (Nelson) Christensen (Vernon); and one brother-in-law, Darrell Grassmeyer.
