He was a member of First Methodist Church of Baxley. Hunter was a Rural Mail Carrier in Baxley for 31 years. As an avid fisherman, he enjoyed fishing in the Altamaha River and local ponds. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Hunter is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann McLain Wood and two children, Burton "Tate" Wood and Marisa "Shann" Thomas. Hunter was a devoted grandfather of two grandchildren, Tatum Rae Wood and Hunter Christian Thomas. Survivors also include his siblings, Marie (Alan) Gillingham,
